Again: Look at the anouncements forum There are (of course) already a lot of messages that have nothing to do with a patch/plugin. The number of messages would raise a lot if you use this forum for plugin announcements as well. I'm afraid users will then use this forum also for requests of any kind about a specific plugin/patch. So I assume that the announcement forum in it's original intention (announce C::B "core"/"web" related releases) would become messed up.

May I again point to the WiKi as "280Z28" suggested... This seems to be a suitable place for the collection of plugins/patches with a link to the plugin forums for dicussion. The only problem: The plugin/patch dev will not be automatically be informed on a new request and the user cannot setup a notification about new releases as it would be possible within the forum.

Hey, you posted while I was writing! :lol:

Alright: Sounds good to me. To sum up: A plugin/patch dev can post it's new release (and only the new release and related information) on the WiKi including a link to a thread he started int he plugin forum for discussion. That way all plugins/patches are nicely collected in the WiKi and the dscussion is outsourced to the forum where everybody can use the notifiction feature as desired.

Looks like a good proposal to me. How about the admins?

The forum would be used for release+feedback. Users subscribed to the forum will get information about new threads created there. The Wiki would be used as a reference for people when they a) know exactly what plugin they want and just need the link to download it or b) just want a full list of available plugins in summarized format without having to dig through the forum. The Wiki+forum together then accomplishes all the tasks.

Edit: hey you posted while I posted. I think we're onto something since we just posted the same thing like 3 times.  :shock:

Edit 2: And the forum is already available: http://forums.codeblocks.org/index.php?board=14.0

Right. Maybe one of us should simply shut up! :lol:

However: I see that we share the same idea. So hopefully the others will to the same.

Morten.

Edit: I would like to add that if the decision is positive I would volunteer to setup the pages on the WiKi accordingly (including a HowTo...) using my own plugins/patches as an example.

Pecan:
I'm all for this idea, and there's nothing like a
good "posting" fight!! :-}
