Special Forums/Theads for patches/plugins?

MortenMacFly:
Dear all,

It happens to me often that by accident I dicover quite some interesting plugins and patches within the forum. Unfortunately they get lost within a long (old) forum (thread) or the thread is simply messed up / forgotten over the time. I don't see a chance to find them by a search criteria for several reasons. May I propose the following therefore:

How about adding two new forums to the developer forum: "Patches" and "Plugins". There only the code (with a description) ist allowed to be posted in a single message for each patch/plugin. Any updates for these patches/plugins are going into the same message then. Any comments/feature request would be going to the other forums as done by now. A sticky note should inform posters about that. (Maybe the possibility to delete other messages is a good idea, too.)

I also see a difference of the patches posted here to the onces posted on Sourceforge: There are patches that I guess will never make it in HEAD because they are too specific but still interesting for readers that have this specific problem.

Any comments/suggestions are welcome.

Morten.

I also think we should have a forum just for plugins. The forum is a place for discussion though, so people should be able to give feedback in the threads in there. The Wiki is the perfect place for a list of links and brief descriptions for each of the plugins without having to wade through forum discussions.

If they make a change, may I suggest another one? Guests are allowed to post here, but you have to register at sourceforge to post there. I think we should have a bug reports forum and feature request forum so if someone wants to make a quick request without having to go through the trouble of registering (since they might not plan on returning later), then they have a place to do so.

Maybe the announcement forum can already do the job for the 'releasing' of plug-ins. And the development forum can be used to discuss that perticular plug-in ...

These forums exists - even several (RAD...). But the problem is that there are so many posts about feature requestst, bugs, HowTo's, comments, suggestions etc. in a lot of messages. The one that just would like to know about the plugins and download them is lost.

I like the idea with the WiKi! Hence the question is: Is everyone allowed to upload it's archives (with the plugin sources / patches) then?

Well, all registered users are definitely allowed to make links on the Wiki to forum topics discussing their plugin's release.
