The better question would be:
what is wriong with my question ?

Answer:
You did not search the forum and/or the web, that violates our forum rules !
You did not give any meaningful information about your environment,  that also violates our forum rules !
You did not use code-tags for inserted code, that does not violate our forum rules (as far as I know), but it's a bad style and makes the post harder to read.

Searching brings up

in under 0.01 seconds.

@jens: I know this type of question is irksome (and you have been here a lot longer than I), but I do not think it is necessary to scare away all new posters.

I think it is necessary for all users to know and to follow the rules.
Above the "Post" and "Preview" buttons there is a link that points to them.

And there is a cause for being so strict, but it's also pointed out clearly there and I don't want to repeat it over and over again.

Maybe the link is too small  .
It would be a similar issue like with the "Back to FAQ" link.

By the way, you make a really good job with overworking and enhancing our wiki-pages.
Thanks for this.

One more violation:
it's the absolutely wrong subforum !

This one is for C::B development only and the (sub-)forums title says it clearly !

So I move this topic to the "Using Code::Blocks" forum now.

I agree with that; what I had been trying to say was that perhaps there is a more tactful way to say this.  (Reading bold/uppercase text would make me feel like someone is shouting.)

Perhaps it could be setup so that the first time a new user posts, it brings up a message like
Quote
This is your first post.  Please ensure it follows the forum rules before you continue; these rules are enforced.
that blocks the user from continuing without giving conformation.

By the way, you make a really good job with overworking and enhancing our wiki-pages.
