Not able compile programs with Code:blocks

I was told that windows 7 Professional can run xp as an alt OS and that I would be able to run the codeblocks compiler if I bought that particular version of windows 7 (professional). Do you know if that is true, I'm mildly irritated with Vista at this point.

Google something like "windows 7 XP Mode" It has been stated in other site that only certain INTEL CPUs support XP Mode.

NOTE: The site is for programmers to ask questions about Code::Blocks; NOT, for beginners to ask questions about the basics of programming.
