Title: Project activity
Post by: sethjackson on March 08, 2006, 08:26:52 pm
Hi on this (http://developer.berlios.de/) page the project activity is listed for the present week (bottom right). It is nice to know that C::B is very near the top. C::B was at 100% last week or the week before. :D Good things are happening with this project.  8)

another one is : devQT.
Need to check this out one day, maybe we learn something overthere for our "better" IDE ;-)

Hmm I can't find any binaries? Only source .zip.  :? I'm definitely not installing QT on my system just to check it out.

It's a totally new project with very limted capabilities (for now at least). It's been a berlios project for less than a month or so and it has the support of www.qtcentre.org (the most popular Qt forum). That explains the high activity.

Activity does not mean anything, anyway. It is a complex and seriously flawed (thus rather useless) measure composed of several parameters which are not evaluated in a fair manner at all. It's a Sourceforge feature, and BerliOS uses a modified version of Sourceforge.

We had a 40% activity rating for several months, although we clearly were more active on a daily base than some projects which were listed with 99.99%. That was annoying because those projects would get top-ranked on the front page while ours would not.
As you can see, we have changed a few strategically important points in the mean time, so our ranking is better now. :)

A bit off-topic, sorry. After some users, devQT seems a new beginning of an already existing project Qt4DS (http://frenchbreaker.free.fr/qt4ds/index.php).

Regarding the project's activity, IMHO the percentage is not so important. If the devs make a good work, the users will remark it and they will be interested in the project :D. If the devs make a bad job, they will be not interested even if the percentage is high.

Best wishes,
Michael
