It must be too early still, but I can't seem to see any difference to the class browser and no option to allow it to float freely.

What could I be missing?

Hello!

Till 2289 revision I was can't run c::b on FreeBSD, cause it fails on start  :(
But I solve this problem. I change encoding from "cp1253" to "utf-8" in classbrowser.xrc and now it work's.
Please, check all of your *.xrc files for right encoding

          Hello!

I have hard time to make this and the previous nightly build running.  I've been using RC2 before this and one friend of mine told me to try nightly builds. I've uninstaled the previous RC, deleted the whole directory, and i've unpacked the build for windows from here  http://download.berlios.de/codeblocks/CB_20060404_rev2296_win32.7z  (http://download.berlios.de/codeblocks/CB_20060404_rev2296_win32.7z) to the old empty directory, I've also copied the wxWidget dll and the mingw dll inside the CodeBlocks folder.
Here is my problem : when I start the codeblocks.exe it recognizes my mingw compiler, but after that it starts to use 70-100 % CPU and doesn't start, I waited 10 minutes ( 'cause I have a humble PC , 750 Duron, 128 MB RAM ) but C::B doesn't start.
Has anybody the same issue ?

  Thanks!

Did you copy old dll from RC2 or the one listed in killerbot's post? (see first post for link :)). Nightly builds will only work with the latter.

I get "Aplication error / [..] The memory could not be \"read\". [..]" on exit.
The build of 03-31 didn't do this.

I'm using Windows XP and Gentoo Linux, in normal way I use linux but for some reason I have to work for a few months on windows , so I tried to set up the nightly ebuild on windows.
I've tried both way, first I copied the one listed in killerbot's post and then the old one.

Please do not use the RC2 dll, this is certain to fail.

If you only have 128 MB, then maybe you should try and disable all plugins except for the compiler plugin. It is only a wild guess, but who knows...

There has been a bug that prevented the app from starting if no config file was available recently, but that was fixed (I just tried with the latest build to be 100% sure).

Hmmm, something is gone wrong if you have that with wxwidgets 2.6.3 :). Probably during the update.bat.

Best wishes,
Michael

 Thomas

I've removed all plugins from the Plugin directory and this way C::B starts (fast), then I tried adding the plugins back one by one to the Plugin dir and then start the C::B on every added plugin, hoping to find the buggy plugin. Big suprise: in the end I've added the last plugin (codecompletion.dll) and C::B starts this way to !!!! I don't know the explanation, but now it works, I measured the start time on my slow PC : 23 s. Bszente, the user who gived me the advice to use the nightly builds also complained about slow start:
I just downloaded this windows build, until now I used the official RC2. This new CodeBlocks starts very slow on my computer. It takes ~5s to start up. Is this normal behaviour? The old RC2 started very quick.

   Thanks Thomas for the hunch!!!

@dllmain - there's fair chance todays nightly build (if there is one) will resolve this issue:

Quote
Revision: 2298 * Fixed a crash-on-exit issue under windows.
Revision: 2305  * Fixed (finally?) recent crash-on-exit introduced with the new class browser enhancements.

Yes, I have this same problem the first time I have built C::B with wxWidgets 2.6.2 (the resources are not found, because update.bat has failed). You have to download zip.exe and make it available, so that when running update.bat, it could be used. In my specific case I have had to use not just the name, but the absolute path + the name to make update.bat works. Moreover, I have had to add the zip file to each contr. plugin projects to correctlly build them (post-process).

Best wishes,
Michael

I just wonder why you did not use update.bat (or update in Linux)? Still have problems?

May be you can have a look at here (http://forums.codeblocks.org/index.php?topic=2331.0).
