Title: General Programming Forum
Post by: ZekeDragon on March 13, 2006, 12:52:28 am
I was wondering if the mods of this Forum have ever considered implementing a General Programming forum into Code::Blocks, for those out there who are uncertain as to where to go and just started using C++ in Code::Blocks.  Many times I wish there was somewhere I could go that would answer general problems with code, like if I'm having trouble debugging a particular piece of software, and could also give my own feedback to others problems.  This would make it easier for new people to the language to ask the questions they would like to get answers to, and would keep them in a more 'organized' location, instead of occasionally being posted in places like Troubleshooting or here in General/Off-Topic.  The last thing I would want though is for the mods that are already busy with their own lives on top of developing C::B AND answering the questions in the forum as it stands, so I can understand if it would be a bad idea, but having a location for community support where they have programming problems doesn't seem to difficult of an idea to implement, and I know I'd be there to do what I can to help people with random code related topics (other than compiling C::B).

When it comes to the particulars of C::B, I'm working on it but doing pretty good as it stands.  I DO however understand using C++ pretty well, even with several toolkits.

I guess I just want to feel... useful?

That would detract from focusing on CB development.

There are several good C++ forums:

codeproject.com, gamedev.net, etc.  And those boards are much larger than the CB forums.

AFAIK we should build a simple list of valuable programming forums and resources.

Example:
wxWidgets programming
Documentation: http://wxwidgets.org/docs.htm
Forum: http://wxforum.shadonet.com/
Wiki: http://wiki.wxwidgets.org/

Game/OpenGL/DirectX/General programming
Tutorials: http://www.gamedev.net/
Forum: http://www.gamedev.net/community/forums/

MS Windows/General programming
Forum: http://www.codeproject.com/
Forum: http://www.codeguru.com/forum/

Linux/General programming
Forum: http://www.programmingquestions.org/
