Daniel has sent me a source RPM and specfile for SuSE.
Also, a gentoo ebuild is lurking somewhere around here...
I am using SuSE 10.0 x86-64, so I guess I'll have to build it myself. Would it be possible to point me to the needed specfile, so that I can build the RPM myself?Sorry I forgot to post the current Specfile :oops:
Thank you very much
There are some tgz or .mo file compiled and ready?No one has tried I think. Lack of Slackware installed :P
polygon7: the package you made is i686 or Athlon XP? Because optimized for Athlon XP is not the same as i686 (Athlon XP haves 3D Now! and SSE)
BTW, a 1.0 RC2 package of C::B would be better than CVS (CVS binaries scares some people)
Somebody have been compiled CB for slax/slackware? with kernel 2.6.12 or higher?
I'd compiled too many times with different options unicode/wxWidgets 2.4, 2.6, etc but
allways crash when runs for first time.

Hey there, thanks for this really great IDE! :D
Since i have not enough time atm to start hacking on Code::Blocks i thought about how i could support it...
Well, here is the, at least as far as i know 8), first Code::Blocks-Package for Ubuntu Breezy Badger :
http://www.char0n.de/stuff/codeblocks-1.0rc2.deb
DISCLAIMER :
This is the first package i ever built, but since it doesn't do anything fancy (just copying all files to their appropriate places) it shouldn't do any harm to your PC.
The Code::Blocks-Sourcecode wasn't changed by me, its just the one you can get in the download-section.
Although it uses the same mechanism (*.deb), its unlikely that this package will work in either Debian Woody/Sarge/Sid or Ubuntu Hoary/Warty, better don't even try!
I hope this package will help a few people to get Code::Blocks working on their system.
Greets
Markus
So please change it to be installed to /opt (as codeblocks expects it to be there). although i'd personally prefer it to be in /usr/share,
when i install C::B from that ubuntu package

We provide no linux packages. Search who made it and maybe he can help you. He probably didn't use the default installation directory.
Sorry...
It's easy to build C::B though. Maybe you should try it.

Ok, lot's of struggle for making available in the debian repository.
So, there is any possibility to find an official debian developer willing to be the mantainer of the package?
Hi,
I was able to build an RPM for Mandriva 2006 just correcting the wxSleep stuff. Unfortunatelly I don't have place to store it but I can send to anyone who ask for.

I'm trying to build code::blocks under kubuntu for amd64 without sucess
if someone can make a package it would be really nice
3) Why is there no Makefile.unix in the RC2 source code archive? I'd compile it myself if I had a makefile.
2) daniel2000 wrote that the RPM for Suse 9.3 can be found under http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/misc/suser-drcux/93/rpm/ (http://ftp.gwdg.de/pub/linux/misc/suser-drcux/93/rpm/). But there is no file called "codeblocks". Can you tell me another location to download a RC2 package for Suse 9.3?Yes, only the i686 version of the Suse 9.3 package is available here (http://linux01.gwdg.de/~pbleser/rpm-navigation.php?cat=/Editors/codeblocks). But it's very outdated (that's the reason the other packager removed it from his repository).
Okay, so you can call me a newb here if youd like. But i just got my linux box up and running, i really like codeblocks, and i would like to run it under FC4, but the rpm package at the top of this post's link is bad. I was just wondering what you would suggest. Thanks for humoring me. I am somewhat new to linux and this is the first time ive used fedora.
I'm just compiling the newest SVN revision under Fedora Core 4. If there aren't too much errors, I'll upload the RPM package to a free download space (could be little slow). If you need some space I can provide it. It's my uni's network so it should be pretty fast.
Cheers

Thank you! It works great! It is not my first installation, I installed it over a previous one but it seems much better now.
:) Keep on delivering new builds, pls :D
P.S. What did you do to compile it?
Hi, i'm waitting for the Redhat/Fedora RPM files too. Link is not working.I'm trying to compile it, but I have to recompile the wxGTK package too. So it takes a bit longer, because this causes other problems (can't fit build dependencies, though having activated even development repo's :? ).
Code::Blocks is the best C++ IDE, i want to use it very soon.
Thanks.

I hope it will be ready this evening, at least the wxGTK package, codeblocks should follow tomorrow (if it works :lol: )
Shall I also build a codeblocks RC2 package ? The one I try to build now is one out of the svn sources.
Daniel
Hello everybody,Great! It works quite well, better than whatever i installed previously.
I've just built my first .deb package using the current (20/02/2006) SVN HEAD.
Since it's my first build the package may be lacking something I did not notice, but I installed it on my system and it seems to work.
I'm using Ubuntu/Kubuntu 5.10 (Breezy Badger) with the latest updates I could find.
The package is available for download at the following address:
http://carapax.wiener.crema.unimi.it/users/max/codeblocks_200206ubuntu_i386.deb
Hope it serves you well

[EDIT]
I noticed a problem while running the IDE: the buttons that should be colored reflecting the chosen color for something (like background) are always grey. Please let me know if this is a known bug.
I'm going to compile it muself, maybe, if i will have time. Tho i'll probably first compile and install wxwidgets 2.6.3 for fixes...
Thanks for info! I'l try 2.6.2 then.... (don't have much time & i just noticed that i installed non-SMP kernel on my p4 HT system(ouch), and have other list of installations to do, so i might wait for wxwidgets 2.6.3 to get fixed)I'm going to compile it muself, maybe, if i will have time. Hello,
I do not know in Linux (haven't tried yet), but in Windows C::B built with wxwidgets 2.6.3-RC1 has some layout problems. You can see them here (http://forums.codeblocks.org/index.php?topic=2331.0). Anyway, building C::B is easy if you use the provided project file(s) :D.
Best wishes,
Michael
someone please build a Debian package (at best SID) of SVN. Pleeease :)
Packages for Fedora Core 5:I think the nightly builds for fedora core 4 should also work on core 5.

No, Fedora Core 4 have wxGTk 2.4, but FC 5 2.6 release. There are some problems with compilation svn CB on FC4. Berlios nighlty builds for FC4 not work on FC5.Yes, but the FC4 packages are linked against wxGTK 2.6.2 packages of freshrpms (http://ftp.freshrpms.net/pub/freshrpms/ayo/fedora/linux/4/i386/freshrpms/RPMS), so it should work. I tested it with the wxGTK package of FC5, but without any other FC5 update, and it worked. Only other packages could make problems (glibc or gtk2).

@DJMaze: Does codeblocks run, if you install it without checking dependencies (rpm -Uvh --nodeps CB_20060414_rev2352_fc4.rpm)? If yes, I could remove these dependencies and you could install the nightlies.

Hello,
I think that we should update the link for the pre-compiled Ubuntu development releases (SVN, x86). The link should point to the Nightly builds sub-forum or to BerliOS.
Best wishes,
Michael
But you can also change contents yourself. It's a wiki ;)
Before doing it, I "wanted" to have the opinion of the admins/devs :).Ok, that's right. But a dead link is never good. I changed it to link to the forum, because the link of the windows build also points to this place. :)
Best wishes,
Michael

just do it,
if you do it right, you'll never hear anything,
if you don't do it right, you'll get familiar with "the revenge of the admin" :)
I've built C::B 1.0rc2 under Slackware 10.1 with wxWidgets-2.6.3.
I've created the packages too.
Codeblocks works fine and amazingly built my test application with wxWidgets.
anyone interested please email me at jefrisibarani@gmail.com, because i have no webspace to put the tgz package yet.
Great :).
Anyway, RC2 is old now. Much better to build packages from the SVN sources.
If you have no possibilities to make online your packages, then try a free File Hosting like:
http://www.savefile.com/
Best wishes,
Michael
I have tried to download the rpm for Fedora core 5 but the page not found error is diplayed when I try the link [url]http://www.neoinvent.com/cb/codeblocks-1.0-rc2.i386.rpm[\url]
Anyway, there may still be reason to upload a Debian AMD64 version aswell?Yes, because Ubuntu != Debian.
Well, Windows crapped out on my laptop last night, so I've decided to put Debian Etch on it. I use C::B on all my Windows boxen, so I'm going to be needing it on my Linbox as well. Last time I did Debian packaging was in the last millennium, but I'm a professional packager (MSI) by trade, so I'd like to give this a go.Anyway, there may still be reason to upload a Debian AMD64 version aswell?Yes, because Ubuntu != Debian.
BTW, we really need a Debian Sponsor. Has somebody tried to get one?
Thanks Daniel. Sorry to be a pain but could you just remind me where I can obtain the package? I'm running OpenSuse 10.2No pain! My fault. Could have posted the link in my last post ;)

There're three ebuilds in portage for Code::Blocks, all of them masked with ~, and the last one is a month old. Personally, I prefer to get it from SVN and compile it, after all it's a very straightforward procedure.
* svn checkout
* cd into directory
* ./bootstrap
* ./configure # maybe you want to give some options to this one
* make
* su -c 'make install'
* cd into directory
* su -c 'make uninstall'
* make clean
* make clean-zipfiles
* svn update
* ./bootstrap # I think it's not necessary, but I do it anyway
* ./configure
* make
* su -c 'make install'
Just check it out, ./configure, make, make install? Nothing special needed?

The current .debs being offered on the nightly forum will not install on Dapper. The dependencies that are not being met are because of the version numbers of such things as gcc, etc. You will need to build CB from source.
1. add line
deb http://apt.tt-solutions.com/ubuntu/ dapper main
to /etc/apt/sources.list (replace dapper with edgy or feisty)
2. curl http://www.tt-solutions.com/vz/key.asc | sudo apt-key add -

Be sure /usr/local/lib is in /etc/ld.so.conf, then run ldconfig (you must be root). You only need to do that once.

Hi, i don't know if this is a C::B issue or a plugin issue.
When i want settin my Settings/Environmnet C::B crash.
I use the jens nightly builds so can't test it with the 8.02 *.deb's.
On a debian/lenny distro.
