"Tip of the Day" hangs in HEAD revision

(1/1)

jhr4n:
Maybe I am doing something wrong?

It compiles OK.
It installs OK.

It runs... kind of OK.  I get the message about deleting a stale lock file from the previous crash.  It detects my compiler.   After I press OK at the compiler detection screen, the main window begins to draw, and I get a tip of the day.

That is where it hangs.  The "Tip of the Day" dialog never draws, and my attempts to close it fail with a "Not Responding" / "Force Quit" dialog.

If the developers are anything like me, they have this turned off and might not notice for a long time, although it's also quite possible I am doing something wrong.  I am using a new installation of Ubuntu.

Either way... can someone help me?

Thanks for a awesome IDE guys :)  I've been using it for quite some time now on 4 different systems (2 windows and 2 linux) and I have to say, it's the best.  I feel like I can't say "thanks" enough!

Are you linking C::B sources against wxGTK-2.8.3 on Linux, maybe? If "yes", then update to wxGTK-2.8.4. There was an infinite loop when adding a wxStaticText control to a toolbar causing such issues, and it's fixed in the last release.

Regards.

jhr4n:
That was the problem, or at least, upgrading to 2.8.4 solved the issue anyway.

Thanks for your help!
