Hi all,
I help run a small online study group for students learning C and C++, about 500 people now, and almost all of them use Code::Blocks on Windows with the bundled MinGW.
The most common problem we see is the first build failing: wrong compiler path after an update, or a project created as a single file instead of a console project. We are thinking of sharing one zipped project template plus a short checklist (Settings > Compiler > Toolchain executables, then build a Hello World before anything else).
Two questions for people who teach with Code::Blocks:
1. Is a .cbp template the best way to share settings, or do you export the compiler config instead?
2. Do you point newcomers to the nightly builds or keep everyone on the stable release?
Side note: most of our members arrive through a few regulars who invite classmates and then sit with them through that first build. We added
a simple invite tracker to our chat to thank those helpers, and it is nice to see the same names that answer the setup questions at the top.
Thanks for any tips.
