SVN/Hg/Bzr/Git integrations already exist in file manager plugin?

When right-clicking on a directory within the file manager plugin, integration settings for SVN, Hg, Bzr, and Git are shown. What functionality is added when these are enabled? I cannot find what they add.

AFAICS they just toggle a flag.
