linker directory not searched in rev2012 ??

I just compiled rev2012 on Linux. When trying to compile the first program I came across the following:
- it seems that the linker directories in the global compiler options are not searched for libraries => it is necessary to enter the complete path to the libraries that should be used.

- it seems that the option to use makefiles for building is gone. (at least the option to change the "call the compiler directly" option is greyed out). Is this the preferred way of building now?
