Problems with the file tabs
« on: February 04, 2006, 07:40:37 pm »
Hello,

I have remarked some problems related to the tabs when opening/closing files (C::B rev1940 - Windows XP SP2). For example, I open the C::B project, the tabs with the file path are shown and the one with the actual file is enlighted. But when I open another file, then the tab of this file is not shown and I have to use the arrow to find it. The same happen when I close a file. This behaviour makes a bit difficult to locate the actual working file.

Has someone else remarked this problem(s)?

Best wishes,
Michael

Yes!

This has been gradually annoying me more and more too (using 8.02 - I'm assuming this hasn't been changed since). If I have more than 5 files open the first tab will move "off to the left" and I have to use the arrow to bring it back on. There is room for several more tabs along the top of the editor, so this seems a very unnecessary restriction. It would be far better to check whether the tab bar is full up and only shift the tabs "left" if it's actually needed. It's really annoying to have to bring them all back on to the screen again.

I realise this might be tricky to implement. At least an option to change the threshold from 5 tabs to a different number would be nice (although not ideal due to different length file names). Or perhaps an option for the new tab to be put "off to the right" instead of shifting the tabs on the bar.

Cheers,
windhawk.

I also find this extreemly annoying.

I've learned to completely ignore the tabs bar and use the "Open Files List" plugin list instead. It saves the day, and some not insignificant sanity.

Well, there is that. I quite like having more space for my project tree down the side though, and having the open files list there seems like duplication of the tab functionality.

Yes I agree.

In the past I also made an issue about this , see topic
"Weird file tab behaviour in CB editor"

I hope someone can fix this
