Build Fail/Debugger Issues

Have used CodeBlocks for a while but now when I try to build a Hello World program I get the message:
Cannot open file \bin\Debug\Test Area.ext Permission deined
error 1d returned

Also the IDE was working I'd execute a program and when I aborted it it didn't abort the debugger.  The build button was not active and if I tried one of the debug buttons it got compiler still active stopping debugger.

Very new to this IDE.  Haven't found any good documentation - any suggestions?
