how do i get code blocks version 13.12 to work on my mac book pro?  There is an error message that does not recognize the compiler? thank you

You have to install supported compiler and setup in the compiler settings.
Search the wiki for instructions how to do it.
Probably you'll have to adapt the windows/linux tutorials to osx.
But the basics are the same.
