Good work!
But I think the background colour should be white or transparent especially in a white ground start page.
If some piece of memory should be reused, turn them to variables (or const variables).
If some piece of operations should be reused, turn them to functions.
If they happened together, then turn them to classes.

Kind of like the start page background is not white, but one of the system colors. Anyway, I have it light gray (#C0C0C0). So if I make the background transparent, the letters can merge with it.

One can make a gradient around the edges from black to transparent.

Hm, isn't this splash screen more suitable for vim like editor?  ::) ;D
