Codeblocks doesn't load past the splash screen

Hello. A friend of mine decided to start using Codeblocks. He installed the codeblocks-12.11mingw-setup_user.exe but when he starts the application the only thing he sees is the splash screen and codeblocks doesn't start. Could you please tell me what might be the issue?
 Thank you and sorry for any language mistakes, but english is not my main language.

has he tried the new RC2?

What is RC2?

He can try to delete the folder c:\"User"\"Username"\AppData\Roaming\Codeblocks
"User" can be the appropriate name in your language
"Username" is the user name
