I have been making plans for creating a 2D in Photoshop - if it turns out I will post it.

I guess I forgot to mention that I check the setup (colors, lighting, etc.) with "quick" (5-15 minutes) preview renders at about 5-10% size and no anti-aliasing.

As long as the render is at least the same size as the final splash, there should not be a visible difference.  However, from experience large sizes make post-processing effects a lot easier to apply (I do agree that 18 hours is excessive and I will be changing something).

Thanks for offer; I might take you up on that next time I come to a slow render.

New splash variants completed...                                                  ... no bubble

... and transparent                                                                     ... and without shadows.

On the original topic of this thread, I have created a small set of graphics for the project wizard within Code::Blocks (based on set B icons).  To use, simply extract over

[C::B_SVN]\src\plugins\scriptedwizard\resources

so that the original graphics are overridden.

The web address line and "The open source .." line should not overlay the four square, just my opinion. :D
I suggest put the two lines below the four square.
If some piece of memory should be reused, turn them to variables (or const variables).
If some piece of operations should be reused, turn them to functions.
If they happened together, then turn them to classes.

I really like it and don't mind too much that the logo is a little overlapped. Maybe I would make the logo a bit larger and/or move the smaller text a little lower so it's better centered to the logo. One tiny problem might be the light, as Code:: is quite dark while cks is too shiny... Aaand maybe I'd make the green a bit darker (so it's more grassy) and the yellow a bit lighter (so it's less honey)... but those are all details.

If we don't want any overlapping, I guess there are only two choices: grab the logo to the left or to the bottom.

I believe both versions would need some text shrinking and we are back to current splash screen problem: it has a lot of empty space in the bottom half as ollydbg noted few days ago.

Why do you have H/H++ wizard.png in /fortran? (It appears to be in current svn too.)

Btw it would take a lot of time to replace all old graphics, look for example at sdl-cb.bmp in /templates.

Who made this? :) It would be pretty cool logo for a Win 3.1 program.

I think this logo is better (clean, simple and readable) than all "new" shown in this thread.

You know what? You're right, this UI looks much cleaner:

Oops... I didn't notice.  Do you (or does anyone for that matter) happen to know what font it is using so I can replace the text?

Simplified, mostly 2D (sort of similar to the current splash)...                   ... with revision number highlight

... and flat text

Shifted text.

(Putting the icon under the text made it too tall.)

Wow, nice new ideas. I like the first one and the last one the most. Hmmm now you bring too much new to think about.   Maybe I won't sleep tonight.

//After wheels in my brain spinned up:

- I think 2D text looks better, hmm.
- The bubble still looks like a smudge on my monitor.
- Can you please move the text a little lower so these two gaps match?

Sorry getting back took a bit.

Here is the shifted text.  (I originally had it higher so that the version number would have more space.)

Also, I uploaded the psd files so you can try shifting the text with the GIMP or Photoshop (if you have it).  (This is possible as the text was added afterwards.)

I like this one:

2D text is much better than 3D text.
If some piece of memory should be reused, turn them to variables (or const variables).
If some piece of operations should be reused, turn them to functions.
If they happened together, then turn them to classes.

I edited and uploaded a fixed version.

ollydbg you like that bubble? Interesting.

Alpha when you want more space for version number, you can move the smaller text closer to the Code::Blocks text. I think the gap is too large.
