Help running program

I'm just starting out with code blocks (and programming). I am using Fedora linux. I'm trying to figure out how to run the program outside of code blocks. How do I do this? Sometimes I can get it through terminal and sometimes it gives me errors on certain lines. Even with the exact same script just saved under a different name. But how do I execute a program I write? I'm going with with a console project as well. Like I said, i'm just starting out. Tried also with kdevelop and got no where at all.
