strange editor behavior

hello everybody,

by chance I discovered that a number of keyboard keys in combination with Ctrl + Alt output some strange symbols in the editor. I can't reproduce them here ore even paste them, so I made a screenshot and attached it.

Is this some function of c::b, of scintilla or will I cause laughter for not knowing something very basic in PC's ??
