Long startup times (freezing), freezing on saves & random crashes.
« on: September 07, 2008, 11:19:59 pm »
Greetings:

Code:Blocks is awesome but here are a few things I've noticed:

My projects (even small projects) always take a long time to load (~5 to ~10 second freezing of the GUI on startup) and I randomly get ~5 second freezes when saving files.  I also get random crashes where Code::Blocks just shuts down (no errors).  I haven't been able to pin down if the random crashes are related to "saving" as well.  Anyone know if these are known problems and, if so, if there are any solutions or things to check?

I'm running Code::Blocks binary release 8.02 from "28 Feb 2008" on Windows XP SP2 Pro.

Also, is there a way to force Code::Blocks to create a new window for a project that I "double-click" versus adding it to the current workspace of the Code::Blocks instance that is running already?  I have "Allow only one instance" disabled already.

EDIT: I have the following plugins installed and enabled:
Autosave
Code Completion
Compiler
Debugger
Files extension handler
Foreign projects importer
Windows XP Look'n'Feel

Thanks in advance.
