problem with update.sh
« on: August 05, 2005, 02:18:27 pm »
Hi,

I am trying to install Code::Blocks on Gentoo linux.  I compiled it using
Code: [Select]
make -f Makefile.unix and then tried to run the update.sh script after to complete the installation.  This script fails horribly and I don't get resources.zip and some of the directory names and executables end with a "?".

Here is the output when I run the script:
Code: [Select]

Did you do this?
Code: [Select]
dos2unix update.sh
chmod +x update.sh
./update.sh

Also, you need to have the zip command in your path.

Install zip/unzip.   Also make sure you have write permission to /dev/null.

"Also make sure you have write permission to /dev/null."

I have zip/unzip installed, but this could be the problem.

not sure which version of source you're building from, so could you attache update.sh (rename to .txt)?
what worries me is this:

update: line 2:
: command not found

and did you do dos2unix?:

For whatever reason the mkdir -p commands are failing

Code: [Select]
mkdir -p output/share/CodeBlocks/lexers
mkdir -p output/share/CodeBlocks/images/codecompletion
mkdir -p output/share/CodeBlocks/plugins
mkdir -p output/share/CodeBlocks/templates

Try typing those in the shell by themselves and see why your system doesn't like them.  I'd guess a permissions problem.

nothing is installed and the user owns all subdirectories.  not sure why his update is failing.

stodge:  Maybe the directory needs to be marked executable.
try chmod 755 -R codeblocks

Odd:

-rw-r--r--   1 mike mike 11523051 Aug 28 19:09 output
'output' is a file, not a directory. That's why it's failing.

Code: [Select]
rm output
./update

should fix the problem...

I already tried that but it didn't work. I deleted the build last night and I'll re-build from scratch tonight. If that doesn't work, I'll just stick to a text editor and a console.  :(

Thanks

Ok that works now, but codeblocks just crashes with a segmentation fault. Must re-read documentation and see if I can build with debug.

If it crashes, maybe it's one of the famous Linux crashes! :D

so that would mean we're doing ok... :P

Try deleting your home .Codeblocks/default.workspace file. Then disable the code completion plugin, it's rather unstable in RC1-1.

I have the exact same problem after make & update.

It just crashes with a seg fault.

My platform is RH Linux WS3, wxWidgets 2.6.1

Is C:B ready for wx2.6.1 & Linux?

Aw crap! I didn't notice that! Any more information on the site about this? I took a quick look but didn't see anything obvious.

Thanks

Well, in the meantime, you can use the makefile.unix from CVS and replace the wxwidgets 2.4 references for 2.6...
