Code::Blocks 16.01 saves no settings
« on: March 05, 2017, 10:44:55 pm »
Hello
I have a little problem with Code::Blocks 16.01.
And although it saves me no settings.

With each restart the Program I have to make all settings new.
Compiler selection
Global compiler settings
General settings
etc.

There is the note / popup layout changed and I always click on yes but it is still not saved.

What did I do wrong !? It was installed on the official Portage of Gentoo.

Oh, and if you start codeblocks and close you have to start it again 2 processes before kill!?

15069 Sirius 20 0 1013020 149116 55828 S 100.0 0.5 43:37.20 codeblocks
15614 Sirius 20 0 262080 42716 25912 R 100.0 0.1 0: 41.08 codeblocks

I have also created a new user the same result.
Would be super if one had a tip which I wrongly set.
Have it already 3 times re-installed but somewhere I have to make a mistake.

I thank you already times for various help

Sorry for the bad English ...  :-\

have a nice day

I would try doing what you did; but, first startup Code::Blocks and disable all the plugins but, the Compiler plugin.
Exit out of Code::Blocks to save the disabling of most of the CB Plugins.

Plugins -> Manage Plugins

Did that work or NOT?
If a plugin crashes when it is disabled please report which plugin has the problem.

If, the plugins, stay disabled I would try doing the settings (With no projects being opened).
And, again exit out of CB to save the settings.

If you have the time, try to determine which plugin is causing CB to crash on shutdown.
This is the main cause of the problem you are having.

The other cause is a permission issue, and to confirm a permission issue, start codeblocks from the console and look at the errors reported after exiting CB.

Thanks for your help !

So that with the modules, they deactivate unfortunately does not work.
As soon as I restart codeblock is everything again on yes.

On the right I have not screwed anything, also have to test a new user but also here, when codeblock is restarted all settings are gone.

The only error messages I could find in the console would be this one

~ $ Codeblocks
Starting Code :: Blocks Release 16.01 rev 10692 Jan 26 2017, 11:49:35 - wx2.8.12 (Linux, unicode) - 64 bit
Initialize EditColourSet .....
Initialize EditColourSet: done.
Loading menubar ...
RegExTestbed: loaded
SymTab: loaded
.
.
.
.
. ...... loaded (all plugins loaded and started)

(Codeblocks: 9652): Gtk-WARNING **: gtk_widget_size_allocate (): attempt to allocate widget with width 18 and height -17
ClassBrowser :: UpdateClassBrowserView (): No active project available.

KeyBinder failed UpdateById on [3034] [_ Export]

KeyBinder failed UpdateById on [3267] [Edit startup script]
KeyBinder failed UpdateById on [3233] [Abbreviations ...]
Failed to connect to socket / tmp / fam-skull-
Deinitializing plugins ...

Hmm under Debian everything runs normally (laptop).
Only under Gentoo does it make these strange problems.

I would not care if it is not so extremely annoying with every reboot of CB the whole settings again and again have to make.

The only data I could find so these !?

Ls .config / codeblocks /
DragScroll.ini cbKeyBinder10.ini codesnippets.ini default.conf

I also find no entries in / var / log or in a tmp file ..
Which makes the search of the problem considerably more difficult

From http://wiki.codeblocks.org/index.php/Code::Blocks_command_line_arguments#.2Anix

You can try "--debug-log" [or "--verbose"] to see if it gives more information.

You can also try either "--profile" or "--user-data-dir" options if one of these two works it likely means it was a permission issue.

NOTE: The options "--profile" or "--user-data-dir" if they work will always need to be done.
If the "--profile" option works, it is worth trying to delete the default profile to see if it is just a permission issue on that file.

Sorry for the very late reply .... much stress in the work.

So that works with the - user-data-dir. The settings are no longer ignored.

Now still find what I have exactly adjusted. ??? :-\
Because it works well with a newly created user also not without
--user-data-dir switch.

i guess you are using linux?
have you checked if you have write access to the codeblocks configuration file?

@BlueHazzard Yes, of course, was the first thing I have checked is not so I do not know about Linux. But occasionally happening things where my knowledge is not enough just as with the program here .. no idea why codeblocks does not run as it should.

But currently with the - user-data-dir switch it runs so ...

But I maintain times that an updating (from Gentoo Linux) in the past is to blame is this. What I just try to find out.

It has installed in January and only now the problem has occurred
Unfortunately, I do not often have time to program and therefore I do not know exactly when the program has this behavior.

But nevertheless I find the program top :D
