doubts about C:B

1. Someone know If exist compatibility issues trough old and new versions of C:B ?
2. what c:B's files make sense track with a VCS (git actually)? In other words someone can tell me (or point me) about the exact semantic of C:B's files: *.cbp, *.layout, *.depend ?

i guess *.save have to be source file caches
gmon.out is the profiler's output
