Thank you for the tips. Actually, I already knew Ctrl+Tab and Ctrl+Shift+Tab, but this is slightly different from what I want. By using this shortcuts we actually jump from one tab to the other.
What I wanted is something that I've seen in other editors (
maybe notepad++, but I'm not sure here), which is just positioning the mouse into the tab area and using the wheel to make the tabs scroll, with out changing the focus from the actual tab, i.e. without jumping. Then, if wished, I could just click on the tab I want to go to...

It also doesn't work on notepad++... so it must have been some other not-opensource software, most probabily Understand (
