Title: Script console obscured by Ubuntu's application bar
Post by: twotaters on September 28, 2008, 09:23:50 pm
This is a usability issue, so I don't know if a bug report should be filed.

I just built from subversion revision 5236 on Ubuntu 8.04. Build instructions were easy to follow, so no problems there. When I started Code::Blocks after installing it, I noticed that the Scripting console dialog is partially obscured by Ubuntu's application bar. Specifically, the title bar of the dialog along with a bit of the "Welcome to the script console!" is covered. Since the title bar is covered, it is difficult to move the dialog.

That wouldn't seem like a big deal, but the dialog covers File, Edit, View and Search in the menu bar. Obviously, you can hit the shortcut keys to access the menus. It's just a little annoying.

One workaround in Ubuntu is to click on the diaglog, hit Alt+Space, move the dialog to another workspace, change to that workspace, move the dialog down some, then move the dialog back to the first workspace. It can now be moved. When exiting Code::Blocks, it will offer to save the new layout. Do so and the Scripting console dialog will always appear in the new location, safely out of the way.
