Title: Codeblocks in Debian distro
Post by: wvdakker on July 28, 2008, 02:42:28 pm
Hi,

I know there a nightly build for the debian distro. However codeblocks is not part of the debian distro.
There are several persons who worked on this. But untill today it is not part of the distro.
I have contacted a few persons which are listed on the debian site which are working on it.
But no reply yet.

What is the status of getting codeblocks into debian? If nobody is working anymore on it I would
like to try to get it into Debian.

gr,
Willem

I think he means it isn't in the Debian repos. Which would of course be great for everyone involved if it were. And I believe there is in fact some 1 working on this, check the "development" forum.

There are some guys working on codeblocks for Debian. However their effort was blocked until very recently as Debian did only have WxWidgets2.8 in experimental.

I'm quite sure there will be codeblocks in lenny+1 stable and maybee we'll see it in unstable soon.

Wx 2.8 is already in testing now. So there shouldnt be a problem to get it into unstable.

I try to get in contact with the develop guy (who that may be ;))

Thanks

You can search in http://bugs.debian.org/wnpp for the Codeblocks ITP. However I'm quite sure work is already in progress

Thats the first thing I did... ;)
But the person who sent the ITP has turned it over to somebody else... and he to somebody ...
My idea is that it is stopped.

Does anyone know if a debian package is still actively being put together for code blocks?
I run Debian-KDE testing/unstable mix, so I might be able to work on it if it's still needed.

I checked the debian package repos and there is no reference to code blocks in any branches.
Also WxWidgets 2.8 is available for both testing and unstable.

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=304570 has an reply on 5. of September which is - considering that we're in deep freeze and new packages are of no priority atm - quite recent work. So I'm optimistic for squeeze -- assuming that there is no real problem with the devs here which I really doubt.

As it was more than once suggested to have codeblocks team-maintained you will probably be able to help if you want. If so you should send an email to 304570@bugs.debian.org, CCing sonicmctails@gmail.com so the guys know you want to help ;)

What about Codeblocks availability in Debian Sid ?
It's not (yet) available in, but for stable, testing and unstable debian.

You can find the actual nightlies in my repos (see signature for instructions).
