Title: New Release
Post by: davidc538 on April 29, 2009, 08:28:27 am
Pleeeeease guys, I've used your IDE before and I love it, I'd like an up to date build(at least more so up to date then 8.02) without having to use SVN or building it on my own

You keep adding features with the nightlys. It would be nice to have a proper bug-fixed release once in a while.

Just my 2 cents ;)

You keep adding features with the nightlys.
The reason is simple: I for myself sometimes need features to enhance my work-flow. So I add them. Should I stop it?

For the releases: I for myself take nightly builds as releases. Just rename "nightly" into "release" and you are done. They are stable, they work and they are provided for every major platform.

Please consider that we just don't have the time at the moment to do the overhead a proper release would need. What most people might not know: It's *not* just packing a thing and providing it on a server. We have a SDK to properly release, too. We have a documentation to properly release, too. And there are lots of other things. Hence everybody can help. Who does?

If you are using Ubuntu you only have to press a button if you want a new release=nightly build. There is a new release about once a month and the Ubuntu update manager tells you about it when you start the PC.

If you want it just press the button and wait a minute or two. Next time you enter code::blocks you will be using the new version.

Brilliant!

A little php script on the main page who can say:
the latest nightly build is: Day Month Year

Why? because a lot of folks at least in my area don't have a clue of the nightly build being released in the forums even I tell them to check the forum so a little exclamation mark on the main page of C::B would be really nice and will tell to the world that C::Bis not dead.
