The 22 march 2006 build is out.
« on: March 22, 2006, 08:05:28 pm »
Get quick announcements through the RSS feed http://www.codeblocks.org/nightly/CodeBlock_RSS.xml
A link to the unicode windows wxWidget dll for Code::Blocks : http://download.berlios.de/codeblocks/wxmsw26u_gcc_cb.7z
For those who might need this one (when no MingW installed on your system) : the mingw10m.dll : http://download.berlios.de/codeblocks/mingwm10.7z

For support of ansi builds, a link to the ansi windows wxWidget dll for Code::Blocks : http://download.berlios.de/codeblocks/wxmsw26_gcc_cb.7z

The 22 March 2006 build is out.
  - Windows : http://download.berlios.de/codeblocks/CB_20060322_rev2227_win32.7z
  - Linux :
         http://download.berlios.de/codeblocks/CB_20060322_rev2227_ubuntu.deb
         http://download.berlios.de/codeblocks/CB_20060322_rev2227_fc4.rpm (not yet)

Resolved Fixed:

  • DragScroll v0.19 Capture middle mouse button immediately when used for scrolling. Allows much better performance under GTK
  • Run project pre-build commands even when building a single target
  • Updated project file properties dialog.
+ Merged "Advanced" and "Build" tabs to one ("Advanced").
+ Removed incorrect help text for custom build command macros.
+ Custom build command can now be specified per-compiler.
  • Plugin SDK version pumped to 1.6.11
  • Project file version pumped to 1.4
  • Display message when the project file version is older, listing the changes since that (old) version
  • Replaced most dialogs of the project loading process with AnnoyingDialog (i.e. allow the user disable these messages)
  • Added DistClean() methods in compiler plugin (patch #922)
  • Fixed bug when showing/hiding message manager pages (patch #932)
  • Updated "Start here" page (patch #908)
  • Added "Swap header/source" in editor tabs context menu (patch #945)

Regressions/Confirmed/Annoying/Common bugs:

  • toolbar-images-not-changing-state (is a wx problem)
  • there are several issues with Code Completion (is being redesigned : work in progress)

Great! They are packages for Ubuntu! And they work as expected  :D

But I still have a problem with crashing CB after choosing Settings->Environment.
And also I can not see in predefined compilers compiler for D language (which I like very much from some time :-) )

Couldn't it be corrected?

Thanks for your hard work!

could you post bug reports for this.
And specify which steps to take to reproduce.

Reproduce what? The only available compilers in linux are icc, gcc and sdcc, sorry no D compilers.
Life would be so much easier if we could just look at the source code.

Below is error report. Sorry it's long but I don't have luck with sending attachment in this forum.
To reproduce it is enough to choose Settings->Environment. CB crashes then... :-(
I remember post on forum where someone (Michael?) said that he has same problem, but I can not find post after reorganization.

I meant there is no support for D compilers in the linux version of Code::Blocks. The only "out of the box" supported compilers in Code::Blocks when using the linux version are the ones I posted.
Life would be so much easier if we could just look at the source code.

It's quite obvious that there is no support - I can not see it on compiler list. So that's why I wrote that I would be happy to have such a support. It shouldn't be so complicated as Windows version of CB works with D compiler very good. There is no difference regarding invoking options between Windows dmd and Linux dmd.

And BTW please do not forget about this bug causing CB crash which I reported earlier in this thread...

Hello,

I have got a problem with that build. I can't open my projects anymore.
I double click on my Test.cbp file and I have this first error message

I close it and I have the second one. I click on the button OK and C::B enter in a infinite loop.
I stay on the splash screen, my CPU is used to 100% and nothing else happen  :(

You can find my "project" here: http://www.badongo.com/file/344520

I am using Windows 2000 sp4.

For the moment, I going back to the previous version which work for me.

Have a nice day.

i could load, convert, save and reload your sample project without problems using CB svn rev. 2228.

I have tried your project also (winXP rev 2228), and it worked ok.

However, that first dialog box : I have the impression that's the DDE bug again (it has to do with showing dialog boxes too early, like with the tooltips a few weeks ago).

The second part, no idea at all. :-(

rev. 2228? How is it possible. The last build seems to be the 2227.

Otherwise, I found what is the problem. It only occurs when "Show Spash screen at startup" option is enaled
If I disable this option I can see the following message box and my project is converted normally.

I hope this problem will be fix in a future release.

Should I have to post this bug on BerliOS site?

Thanks and have a nice day.

Hello!

To reproduce it is enough to choose Settings->Environment. CB crashes then... :-(
I remember post on forum where someone (Michael?) said that he has same problem, but I can not find post after reorganization.

Yep, I have posted something similar :D. I had a crash when opening Settings-->Editor. The problem was "solved" by de-activating codestats plugin. Give it a try and let know if it works for you or not. Personally, I build C::B by myself. I prefer using cbp rather than make. It is faster on my poor machine :).

Best wishes,
Michael

Here is an attached crash report! where else can I put them? It's from the Linux build... it crashes almost all the time. It seems random so far but I'm not sure. I just cannot reproduce what I usually do and I don't use the linux version that much because of the crashes.

Hello,

Random ?

May be you can give some more info. E.g., it crashes each minutes or after I started it, when I open a project or not, and so on. More info you give and easier it would be to find a solution :).

Which Linux distro and version are you using?

Best wishes,
Michael

I can confirm this with revision 2229 on Windows XP.  It seems to be another DDE bug.  I'm having a quick glance at src/src/app.cpp now to see if I can spot the issue.

Well, that DDE bug seemed easy enough to fix.  Still having trouble with the freeze after saying OK to the "Project file format changed" dialog (which seems to be displayed twice) and the "Project file format will be updated on save" dialog.

What version of CB are you using? Do you still have the problem with the latest build?
Please check that you use the latest source/dll and zip files (containing the XRC forms). If the codestat.zip file is not present or if it is not the latest version it may explain the crash.
I have compiled and used it on XP-sp2 and it works ok.

I never had this problem in Windows XP SP2, but in Linux (ubuntu 5.10). C::B works fine in Windows. Some users have a crash with Settings-->Environments, but I not yet (and do not want too :)) have one. One of my colleague who tests ubuntu packages of C::B has told me he had that crash with rev2218 (IIRC).

Best wishes,
Michael

I've read the thread but it's not very helpful to track the problem... I'm looking forward to buying a new computer where I could install a Debian!
Anyway, the thread is nearly 1 month old and I've made some changes since then. Does the problem still persist?

I do not know. I have never re-activated the codestat plugin (I do not use it).

Best wishes,
Michael

I have deactivated _ALL_ plugins and problem still remains.

I have installed 2 versions of wxwidgets: one 2.6.1 is in /usr/lib (from standard Ubuntu 5.10 packages) and second 2.6.2 in /usr/local/lib (self compiled). Could it be a problem?

PS. I use now nightly CB from *.deb package for Ubuntu. rev. 2227

Aarti_pl

BTW: Compiling from svn makes CB crash on opening of almost every dialog (make clean-zip-files doesn't help at all). I use make Makefile as it is standard way of compiling Linux programs, and people are just familiar with it - so proper Makefiles is a must to make CB succesful on Linux.

Hmmm. I have built C::B from SVN with make without troubles. Now I prefer to use C::B to build C::B. It is faster and I prefer this way. Anyway, I build .deb packages with make without troubles (if not the PCHs).

If you 've built C::B before on this computer, make sure you run make uninstall before building the updated C::B. That is because it uses libcodeblocks.so which is already installed (normally in /usr/lib or /usr/local/lib) and not the one you 're building.

We 're using autotools to generate the Makefiles, we don't create them by hand. So, I guess, they are proper Makefiles...
OTOH, if you believe there 's something wrong with our autotools scripts, please provide a patch.

I have uninstalled whole CB from usr/local/. I know about the problem with libcodeblocks.so because I have reported it  8)

Unfortunately I am not familiar at all with the whole autotools mess. I just found 2 bugs: one that libcodeblocks.so is linked during compilation, and that not everything is uninstalled during make uninstall - on my computer there leaves /usr/local/share/codeblocks directory.

I really don't know why there are so much problems with CB on my computer. I have already compiled a lot of different programs and do not have so many problems.

I can try to found problem but maybe someone will help how to start :-)

CB on Ubuntu seems to crash quite randomly and I cannot remember when it crashed last time. Some times it crashes on exit, sometimes, when opening projects, sometimes when just clicking around the menus, the source tree etc.

The only crashes, I have had was when trying opening the Settings-->Editor menu with the codestats plugin activated. If not I do not have crashes. Check if it is not some thing on your computer that could be the cause of the C::B crashes.

Best wishes,
Michael
