Language french !
« on: January 02, 2006, 07:22:41 pm »
Hi :) !
I see there is plenty of french here :)
I think it's good to install the french language for SMF (this forum)

http://www.simplemachines.org/download.php/smf_1-0-5_french.zip

And create new forum for frenchies ^^ !

Thanks,
Mathieu !

Hi
It would be a waste of time and energy to create forums in different languages (except maybe to talk about the localization/translation of C::B).

Let's talk Greek to thanks Yiannis for his job! :-)

IMHO a forum in english is better, because it allows people of different countries and languages to communicate with.

Naturally, if someone does not speak english...

That would only be visible for them (content negotiation).

But I, too, would prefer to leave everything as it is. Content negotiation never works the way you want it or the way you need it.
Plus, writing in one language and reading another at the same time can be quite confusing (to me, at least). So let's not give anyone the wrong idea that everything must be localised ;)

Sorry to spoil your fun, but the official forums will stay English-only. It's the only way for everyone to participate. I for one, wouldn't like seeing discussions in a language I don't understand (mostly :P). Not here anyway...
Be patient!
This bug will be fixed soon...

Look Mathelec,

you have to understand that I wouldn't be able to moderate a foreign-language forum. If I can't read what's written there, how can I moderate it?

When Yannis can't read what's written, he can't fix the problem!!!
So Mathelec do you want fixes before realizing that there had been a bug or discussing problems in french ?

And when there's a french forum, someone wants a german one and so on.

When there are forums in different languages, there would be in each language threads discussing the same problem and only few people who can read, summarise and send them to the other developers. That would waste very much time and energy.
