Suggestion: use facebook!
« on: November 22, 2011, 02:00:06 pm »
I suggest that the developer team can use face to release the new nightly build message. Is it possible?

From my point of view:

No !!!
facebook is blocked for security reasons on all systems I administer.

And why should it be done via facebook ?
Or any other abolutely unnecessary "social" network ?

we use lots of opensource software , such as openoffice , codeblocks  ,vlc , gimp etc , some can update by itself , some cannot. If I can read the new release information what I focused in ONE place , it will be great ,otherwise I have to go to web site one by one to check some new information.

You could try embeding the Code::Blocks RSS feed into your Facebook account.  (I assume the feed is active because it is posted on every nightly release, however, I have not actually used it.)

Or you can switch to linux and then you'll execute "my_package_manager update", instead of login to facebook :)

Alpha: The feed seems broken, I guess no one is maintaining it :)

Hmm, in that case, I guess embedding the feed will not do a lot of good :).

It is things like this that keep making me consider whether I should reinstall Ubuntu (or at least see if I can set up a dual-boot without destroying my boot sector again :().

If you use firefox, you should try updatescanner.

I am also clearly against facebook. For me also all facebook, twitter, blogger (...) stuff is blocked from all PC's and personally I believe for good reasons - its evil.

Facebook should not be used by anyone for anything. One should not encourage the use of a system like that.
